Extending the annular in-plane torsional shear test specimen to applications at high strain rates

چکیده

In-plane torsional shear testing is a well-established material technique in the metal forming community. The corresponding specimen designed to be machined from sheet with continuous annular zone intended deform simple shear. Consequently, there are no geometric discontinuities or “edge-effects” induce volumetric changes instabilities result that large true plastic strains up 1.0 can achieved. This paper presents an extension of in-plane test dynamic regime. Dynamic experiments were performed using split Hopkinson bar (TSHB) on specimens manufactured Al 1050 H14. experimental results show adopted used determine behavior accurately and reliably

Mechanical Behavior of TWIP Steel in High Strain Rate Torsional Test

Advanced high strength steels (AHSS) have recently attracted great attention because of their superior mechanical properties. A modern group of these steels, known as twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) steels, shows a unique combination of strength and ductility even at high rates of strain. In order to examine the functionality of such steels in dynamic loading conditions, their mechanical beh...

Characterization of the relationship between systolic shear strain and early diastolic shear strain rates: insights into torsional recoil.

Early diastolic left ventricular (LV) untwisting has been evaluated as a manifestation of LV recoil, reflecting the release of elastic energy stored during systole. The primary goal of this study was to characterize the relationship between systolic strain (e.g., circumferential strain and the shear strains that comprise twist) with the resulting early diastolic shear strain rates, including th...

Slip at high shear rates.

There are contradictory published data on the behavior of fluid slip at high shear rates. Using three methodologies (molecular dynamics simulations, an analytical theory of slip, and a Navier-Stokes-based calculation) covering a range of fluids (bead-spring liquids, polymer solutions, and ideal gas flows) we show that as shear rate increases, the amount of slip, as measured by the slip length, ...

The mechanical response of pure iron at high strain rates under dominant shear

The mechanical behavior and microstructure of pure iron subjected to dominant shear loading has been characterized over a wide range of train rates. Pure iron is found to be highly strain-rate sensitive. Iron exhibits marked strain softening at ε̇ ≈ 8000 s−1 − σ ≈ 850 MPa that is nexpected for the annealed material, as characterized by TEM, but is identical to that of iron preshocked at 40 GPa [...

PREDICTION OF HOT DEFORMATION BEHAVIOUR OF A PH STAINLESS STEEL AT HIGH STRAIN RATES

In this study the hot deformation behaviour of a precipitation hardened (PH) stainless steel at high strain rates has been predicted through hot compression testing. Stress-strain curves were obtained for a range of strain rates from 10-3 to 10+1 S-1 and temperatures from 850 to 1150°C. Results obtained by microstructure and stress-strain curves show that at low temperatures and high strain rat...
